Things Fall Apart
I saw today’s XKCD and just had to post it.
I wonder if the people who do this comic read my blog?

I’ve been enjoying Extra’s new gum- Fruit Sensations both in Strawberry Banana (which is very yummy) and Island Cooler but I found the gum gets soft and liquidy in my mouth so I decided to write the people at Wrigley’s and let them know. Well, only a few hours later and I got a response!
Dear Avah,
Thank you for contacting us to comment on your experience with Extra® Island Cooler and Strawberry Banana gums. We are always happy to hear from our consumers and truly value your feedback. By receiving input from consumers like you, we are able to constantly make improvements and ensure that we are always providing our consumers with the highest quality products.
Our Technical Services laboratory technicians suggest that an improperly formulated gum base may have caused the extremely soft texture and we are continuing to investigate this possibility.
While we can’t be certain why your product seemed to fall apart, it is also possible it was exposed to excessive heat or humidity somewhere along the line after it left our factory. This may affect the texture, making it soft and sticky. It’s likely that when it returned to room temperature it maintained its appearance but lost its normal consistency. Our objective is to make high quality products that our consumers will choose over and over again, so we will pass along your comments to the appropriate personnel who are continually working on improving our products.
To help us accurately document these issues, we ask for your kind assistance in providing the lot numbers from your last purchase of these flavors, if they are still available. The lot number appears on one of the narrow edges of the package, and begins with the letter “L”. You may reply to this email to submit this information. We thank you for your help.
Again, we are sorry you had this experience and thank you for reaching out to us. We are sending along complimentary coupons in the mail with our best wishes. If you have any additional questions or comments feel free to contact us at 1-800-WRIGLEY Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST.
Sincerely,
Susan Garner
Consumer Affairs Representative
Cool!
I tried something and it backfired.
And now I feel all defeated and such.
Pbffffth.
Maybe I should get out of the house and go to the beach (ignore the million things I have do before leaving for France for a month on Monday…)
R.I.P. George Carlin
Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble, went into St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica on Sunday afternoon complaining of chest pain and died later that evening, said his publicist, Jeff Abraham. He had performed as recently as last weekend at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas.
“He was a genius and I will miss him dearly,” Jack Burns, who was the other half of a comedy duo with Carlin in the early 1960s, told The Associated Press.
The actor Ben Stiller called Carlin “a hugely influential force in stand-up comedy. He had an amazing mind, and his humor was brave, and always challenging us to look at ourselves and question our belief systems, while being incredibly entertaining. He was one of the greats.” (more)
I’m back from Shibaricon in Chicago!
I had such a wonderful time. And I’m sure plenty to say.
But I’m so exhausted.
Must sleep!
There’s no real music video for this song, but it’s the lyrics I want you to pay attention to anyways.
They Weren’t There, by Missy Higgins
You breathed infinity into my world
And time was lost up in a cloud and in a whirl.
We dug a hole in the cool grey earth and lay there for the night.
Then you said, “wait for me we’ll fly the wind,
We’ll grow old and you’ll be stronger without him” but oh,
Now my world is at your feet. I was lost and I was found,
But I was alive and now I’ve drowned.
So now I will be waiting for the world to hear my song
So they can tell me I was wrong…
But they weren’t there beneath your stare,
And they weren’t stripped ’till they were bare of
Any bindings from the world outside that room.
And they weren’t taken by the hand
And led through fields of naked land
Where any pre-conceived ideas were blown away…
So I couldn’t say “no”.
You sighed and I was lost in you, weeks could’ve past for all I knew.
You were there blanket of the over-world and so I couldn’t say,
I wouldn’t say “no”. But they all said, “you’re too young to even know,
Just don’t let it grow and you’ll be stronger without him”
But oh, now, my world is at your feet. I was lost and I was found,
But I was alive and now I’ve drowned.
So now I will be waiting for the world to hear my song
So they can tell me I was wrong…
But they weren’t there beneath your stare,
And they weren’t stripped ’till they were bare
Of any bindings from the world outside that room.
And they weren’t taken by the hand and led through fields
Of naked land where any pre-conceived ideas were blown away…
But they weren’t there beneath your stare,
And they weren’t stripped ’till they were bare
Of any bindings from the world outside that room.
And they weren’t taken by the hand and led through fields
Of naked land where any pre-conceived ideas were blown away…
So I couldn’t say “no”.
So yesterday was one of the coolest days in my short 22 years of life (yes, I’ll get to the party eventually). I did a photo shoot with Barbara Nitke and it a was a professional shoot (usually I help her on her personal shoots like the one that’s up right now for her photo of the week http://barbaranitke.com/home.html). I didn’t know before hand that we were shooting actors for a movie poster!!
We were shooting Kat Dennings and Michael Cera for their new movie coming out this fall, “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.”

Kat played the teen daughter in 40 yr. Old Virgin and has also been on ER and Michael was on Arrested Development and also just recently in Juno.
Photography is awesome!! I’m so glad I got to do that, and hopefully will have more opportunities like that with Barbara.
Yay photography!
I got catcalled yesterday by grade school boys. Who were on a playground.
“Hey I like my big girls!” the one called to me.
“Aren’t you a little young to be catcalling?” I scolded them, stunning them that I responded.
Weirdest thing ever.
I had to wash my hair last night because I got some, uh, various fluids in it yesterday. Neither of which were semen. Heh.
I’m currently on a bus to DC to visit with Desire for her birthday weekend and hit up a DO party with her where I’ll get to see Match!! :-D Yay. I’m also totally loving that the bus has Wi-Fi. Way awesome.
My kitty cat at home has gone missing :( He hasn’t been seen all week. This happening just after we put the older 2 cats down.
I said goodbye to Jefferson’s old place this week. It was so strange for me, and it’s not even my apartment! But there were so many important memories for me there- so many firsts, so much fun and friendship and love. Not that it won’t continue at his new place I’m sure (though, I’m running out of 1st to accomplish!). It was just representative of an important, transitional time for me. And to be less sappy, I got one last fuck in, so that was cool.
It’s starting to hit me that my trip to France is really, really happening. After thinking of going abroad for so long, it’s finally here! I’m signed up, all paid, and going to France for a month!! Sqeee!!! I’m so excited, I absolutely can’t wait. I’m already planning in my head everything I need to bring- most importantly my camera, lots of memory cards, and maybe my film camera too. Not sure. I’m thinking of maybe getting a Holga since it’s small and light, but then again I’m very limited in the kinds of pictures I can take with that. And I have to marry the Holga style for any film pictures if I do that. So we’ll see.
I cannot wait though for France. It’s going to be so awesome. And it’s only 2 months away!
Though 1st is Shibaricon, which is less than 3 weeks away now! Also squeee!!! I’m very excited for this as well. 5 nights in a fancy hotel room, 3 full days of ROPE!!, another 2 days for sightseeing in Chicago. It’s going to be so awesome.
I have a feeling this summer is going to go by very quickly. May is going to fly by, because it’s the end of school and all. Then the time waiting for France. And then August always zooms by. And I have so much planned! Wee!! Fun summer! And then my very last semester of college!!
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!
And moving into a new apartment!!!
AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Sorry, I’m feeling in a bit of a silly mood I guess. I’m a little sleepy. And just killing time on the bus (which is way better than driving down so far, even though my bus into NY was late and almost made me miss this bus! And I had to run from Port Authority to Penn Station to catch this- in my flip-flops! Which killed my shins and calves! And only by the grace of God did I make it. No seriously, I prayed the whole way in NY!)
Ok, I’ll see if I can’t write something more interesting in the next few hours…
